Domenico Cimarosa Orchestra
Audition

The Domenico Cimarosa Orchestra is pleased to announce auditions for admission to free orchestral training masterclasses, held by the Orchestra’s own soloists.

Master Objectives:

  • Technical and interpretative improvement of orchestral instruments;
  • In-depth study of the orchestral repertoire from the 18th century to the present day;
  • Development of the skills necessary for entry into the professional orchestral world;
  • Offering a professional growth opportunity for talented young musicians.

Eligible Candidates:

The audition is open to musicians of any nationality, aged between 16 and 35, who are either current students of Music High Schools or Conservatories, or graduates. All orchestral instruments are accepted:

  • Strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
  • Winds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba)
  • Percussion
  • Harp
  • Piano

Audition Requirements:

Candidates must present a program lasting no more than 10 minutes, including:

  • One or more pieces freely chosen by the candidate.
  • Sight-reading of an orchestral excerpt of easy or medium difficulty.

Audition Venue and Date:

The auditions will take place in Caserta. The exact location will be provided upon registration, on the following dates:

  • May 10/11/12, 2025 (first round)

Registration Procedure:

Applications, including a short curriculum vitae and the audition program, must be submitted by May 6, 2025 to the following email address: orchestradomenicocimarosa@gmail.com

Note: The candidate will also be required to perform a sight-reading test.

The selection committee will be composed of the soloists of the Domenico Cimarosa Orchestra and external experts. Evaluation Criteria:

The committee will evaluate candidates based on the following criteria:

  • Technical and musical quality of the performance.
  • Interpretative ability.
  • Artistic potential.

Training Masterclass:

Selected candidates will attend a free orchestral training masterclass, which will take place in Caserta at a location that will be communicated upon registration. The masterclass will include individual and group lessons, orchestral rehearsals, and the opportunity to participate in concerts with the Domenico Cimarosa Orchestra.
